Chris Meade, Co-Founder
Chris is the Co-Founder of Sports Recruits LLC. Prior to founding Sports Recruits, he worked as an Associate at Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. in the World Headquarters location in New York City. Chris’ Cushman & Wakefield group was among the highest grossing brokerage teams in the country and represented clients such as NASDAQ, JP Morgan, The General Consulate of Sweden, Mochila, Inc. and Loyalty Exchange Partners. Prior to his time at Cushman & Wakefield, Chris studied International Relations at Wesleyan University and graduated in 2005. Aside from his lacrosse commitments, he was Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
On the lacrosse field, Chris was a four-year letter winner and team captain. Over that period, Wesleyan achieved the best record over a four-year span in the school’s history (a record that has since been broken!). In his senior year, he helped lead Wesleyan to their first-ever bid to the NCAA tournament, making it to the quarterfinal game. He also received the team’s William T. Call Award, given to the most inspiring and dedicated senior athlete. Chris finished his career sixth on Wesleyan’s career scoring list.
Matt Wheeler, Co-Founder
Matt is the Co-Founder of Sports Recruits LLC. Prior to founding Sports Recruits, he worked as a Senior Risk Analyst for Guy Carpenter, LLC – the leading Reinsurance Intermediary in the world – in New York City. Prior to Guy Carpenter, Matt earned an Economics degree from Wesleyan University and graduated in 2005. Aside from his lacrosse commitments, Matt was very active within his fraternity. He served as treasurer for two years and worked as a mentor at the local high school.
On the lacrosse field, Matt was a four-year letter winner and team captain of the team that made it to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2005. Outside of work, Matt is the co-chair of the Wesleyan Graduates of the Last Decade New York City Chapter and a member of the Cardinal Mentoring Program, which mentors New York City high school students.
Justin Frohwirth, Technical Director
Justin is the Technical Director of Sports Recruits LLC. Prior to joining the company, he spent over 10 years at the pioneering email lifestyle newsletter DailyCandy, where he served as Director of Technology. He was DailyCandy’s first in-house tech employee, helping it grow from a small startup to a company with over 100 employees and over $25M in annual revenue. DailyCandy was acquired by Comcast in 2008 for $125M, and later merged into NBC Universal. Prior to DailyCandy, Justin was a Web Developer and Project Manager at the research firm Jupiter Media Metrix.
Justin is a graduate of New York University, where he majored in Computer Science and minored in Urban Design and Architecture Studies. Justin lives with his family in Jersey City, where he also serves as the Vice President of the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy.
Amanda Millard, VolleyballRecruits.net Director
Amanda Millard is the Director of VolleyballRecruits.net. Prior to joining the company, Amanda worked as an Account Manager at IKON Office Solutions and also worked for several startup companies including 4L Events LLC, where she served as Vice President.
A Texas native, Amanda was heavily recruited by a long list of schools to play volleyball - including Baylor and Texas Christian University (TCU) - before ultimately deciding to play at the University of Denver. In addition to being a Division I athlete, she earned a Business/Marketing degree from Denver’s Daniels College of Business. She was voted the 2005 team MVP, received the “Strength and Conditioning Female Athlete of the Year Award” from her graduating class and maintained Academic–All-Conference standings in all four years. She was named 2nd Team All-Conference her senior year and was a NCAA Female Athlete of the Year Award nominee. Outside of volleyball, Amanda served as Co-President of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
Ryan Nizolek, LacrosseRecruits.com Sales Director
Ryan is the Sales Director at LacrosseRecrtuits.com. Prior to working at the company, he worked as an Associate at Murray Hill Properties in New York. At MHP, he represented clients such as Joy Cioci and Progressive States Network while also representing more than 300,000 square feet of office space on behalf of landlords throughout Manhattan. Prior to Murray Hill Properties, Ryan earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Virginia, graduating in 2010.
On the lacrosse field, Ryan was a four-year letter winner and three- year starter on defense, earning All-American recognition. While at UVA, he helped the team reach three Final Fours and capture the ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship in 2010. He was also the recipient of the Kass Family Scholarship, which is given to a fourth-year member of the Men’s Lacrosse team who embodies qualities of integrity, precision and dedication. Following his senior year, Ryan was drafted 27th overall in the 2010 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft by the Boston Cannons. In 2011 with Boston, he was a contributing member of the 2011 MLL Championship team, starting six games. He will be starting his fourth season with the franchise in April 2013.
Spike Malangone, News Director
Spike is the News Director at Sports Recruits LLC. Prior to his start with Sports Recruits, he worked in the Communications and Media Relations group at the National Football League in their New York City headquarters. During his time with the NFL, Spike was a part of the Football Information Team and was responsible for information dissemination to media. He worked daily on press releases, media inquiries and other communications projects. While at the league, he also worked on-site at events including the Super Bowl, the NFL Draft, the NFL International Series in London, Conference Championship Games and the NFL Scouting Combine. Prior to his time at the NFL, Spike studied American Government and Politics at Wesleyan University and graduated in 2009. Aside from his lacrosse commitments, he was a sports writer for the Wesleyan Argus newspaper.
On the lacrosse field, Spike was a three-time All-American and the 2009 Division III Defensive Player of the Year. A two-year captain, he helped lead Wesleyan to their first ever NESCAC Championship as a senior, making it to the quarterfinal game of the NCAA tournament. A three-time All-NESCAC First Team selection, Spike was also named a USILA Scholar All-American as a senior. He received Wesleyan’s prestigious Carl Ahrens Memorial Award in 2009, given to university’s most outstanding senior athlete.
